Not reliable enough. We have had about 20 Contigo water bottles as a family (and probably another 15 metal coffee mugs). The original Madison 32oz were my favorite. Never leaked and clip was awesome. As they have slowly died off, Contigo has never made an adequate replacement. The straw versions are stupid and the straws get lost in the kitchen. The non-clip versions don't clip to a bag making them useless for travel. The Cortland works fine, but the seal isn't reliable enough. Mine can be fixed to not leak, but just doesn't close well enough (whether locked or unlocked) on its own and makes a terrible mess. I've started buying other brands. Bring back the Madison 32!!!!!

Awesome water bottle but unfortunate fragile lid.We have a dozen of these bottles in mixed sizes, and love most of the design. They stay sealed, they have a cover over the spout that keeps out dust and such, and they're easy to clean in the dishwasher (top-rack), as they have no tubes and the parts flip open so everything is sanitized. HOWEVER, they have an unfortunate design flaw... the button breaks easily. Depress it off center, and it may snap. Drop the bottle, it may snap. Contigo has a great warranty, which has replaced over 60% of our lids, but we finally just ordered a bunch of spares to have on hand. Replacement lids often take weeks to come off of backorder, and we need functioning bottles.

Loved this bottle, until it started leaking.I've had the Cortland water bottle for a few months now and take it with me everywhere. I love it's features: 32 oz., spout cover, handle with a clip. It fits perfectly in the side pocket of my book bag. I was super disappointed recently when it started leaking and got several of my (not cheap) text books wet. And it hasn't stopped leaking. I've cleaned the lid to make sure there was nothing in the way of the sealing mechanism with no luck. I thought my bottle was an isolated incident but after reading other reviews, I see it's a design flaw. I still use it, I just don't treat it as leak proof, because it isn't! I actually expected more from Contigo as their other products have been great.

LOVE this water bottle!!!This is the perfect water bottle! My husband got me one for Christmas last year, and when I lost it this summer I wanted to make sure I replaced it with the exact same one, not something similar. I love that you have to push a button to drink, so that it never spills, I have 4 young kids so things getting knocked over is a way of life for me. I don't like straws, they are hard to clean and they seem to always come undone so you suck lots of air and you have to open it up and re-secure it before you can drink. This is one of the few nice water bottles I have found that does not have a straw. I highly recommend this water bottle to everyone!

Best Water Bottle Ever, Not KiddingThis is absolutely the best water bottle I have ever have. I love the size, because I do have a smaller size, but this larger size is the same size as my Nalgene. It is easier to drink from, easier to carry, and it even fits in my car's cup holder; which my Nalgene does not fit.

Bought 2 cortlands, one was defectiveI purchased the defective bottle less than a month ago. The flexible ball on the lid doesn't close fully and leak drips. I reported the leak on their website almost two weeks ago and still no response yet from customer service yet. Automated email rsponse did say upto 3 weeks for a real person response.

DisappointedI've had my 32oz bottle for a few months after being reccomended for its quality and durability, even though it was more expensive than I would usually pay. Have loved it for the gym , especially on the treadmill for ease of use and have used it most days.
However I am extremely disappointed as today the auto seal button has dropped off despite having not had it that long ( you can see there is no wear and tear from photos)
Upon inspection it appears it was only connected by a small rod of plastic ( see photos) which has sheared off. Resulting in a water bottle which is useless and only good for the bin. I think a bottle of this price and quality should last considerably longer than it has and therefore on current experience could not reccomend this product as I previously have done .

Nice but leakyI've bought several Contigo water bottles, and this one is my favorite by far. However, that's not saying much, because the other ones I bought were pretty terrible. I've had this one for just over a year, and while I really like the Autoseal thing, it leaks if it's not completely upright. I actually was looking for these lids to put with the bottles I still have from the other two that broke, but apparently they're not actually sold, since the other reviews say that they've been out of stock for a while. I guess I'll have to try another brand to find one that works the way I like and doesn't leak.
