I have had numerous burns from hot coffee or tea leaking around the lid, I also had a coffee spill when the cup tipped over and hot coffee ultimately sprayed out of the leak all over my desk.

I made tea at 8 a.m., worked at an all day fundraising event and when I got back in my car my tea was just as hot as when I'd made it that morning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a great mug, and does the job I've been using the Byron 2.0 Steel Travel Mug for a few months now, and it's definitely proven to be a solid choice for my daily coffee needs. The durability of this mug is impressive; it feels sturdy and well-built, which gives me confidence it’ll hold up well over time. When it comes to insulation, it keeps my coffee hot for a good few hours, which is perfect for longer commutes or travel. I also appreciate its portability – the slim design fits easily into my car’s cup holder and my backpack side pocket, so it's very travel-friendly. The leak-proof seal is a huge plus. I’ve tossed it into my bag a few times, and no spills so far! My only minor drawback is cleaning it; the lid has a couple of crevices that can be a bit tricky to clean thoroughly, so it requires a bit of extra care.

I loved that the lid seal worked so well that I could through the mug into my gym bag even if full, and it never leaked. I used this every day, my favorite travel mug! Suddenly now, after 6 months, the cup is leaking but not from the seal part of the lid. It leaks even when I am just drinking from it. If I had to guess, I think it is coming from the threaded area between lid and bottle. I looked for damage, but it seems fine. Sad to say this cup if now unusable for drinking with the lid on. Another complaint, I drive a mini cooper, and it does not fit in my car cup holder. In fact, the rubber ring around my cup holder is damaged a little from trying to keep the cup stable while driving. Even with this issue, I would get another one if it did not leak.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Snapseal Lid is NOT Leakproof After being a Contigo faithful follower, I purchased two SNAPSEAL 20oz mugs as I had come down with a case of tendonitis in both arms, and the Travel Mug hurt my forearms to use. The SNAPSEAL lids have opened on three occassions now, when I have had to slam on the brakes. The SNAPSEAL Byron mugs were on the floor in a lunch tote, and opened when they tumbled over. My brand new car now absolutely wreaks of sour milk as the chai tea seeped into the underlay. These are going in the garbage!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Keeps the Joe warm but the lid is trash This mug keeps my coffee warm for hours and I like that but their "seal technology" that they brag about is the worst part of mug. The plastic seal fell apart and I kept drinking in my coffee. Now it leaks very badly. I even dribble when drinking from it. To me it no longer can be used to drink from so what I do is just use it a thermos. I make enough coffee for two cups. Poor my 1st cup into a regular cup and then the 2nd into my know thermos that used to be my travel mug. When I ready for my 2nd cup of coffee I poor from my thermos (this product) into my regular cup. It works me at the office but is not what I had wanted when I bought this. I came to this site to find a replacement seal but they are not sold. If I could buy 4 or 5 of them and replace as needed, this would be a great travel mug.

Received a Contigo Snapseal 20 oz Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug as a gift in January 2023, to replace one that I had for 5 years (which performed well but needed deep cleaning...). New Contigo mug no longer keeps hot liquid hot. Doesn't even keep it warm. I fill it with coffee at 7:00am, and by 8:00am, the coffee is cold. Not sure why. Would like to have this product perform like the one I had for 5 years, but don't trust it and will be looking for another travel mug that works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaky lid I bought a SNAPSEAL Byron about a year ago. The rubber ring that seals the lid to the cup started coming loose after about a month and I ended up having to walk to work with coffee dripping down my hand for 30 minutes. It's a good thing I always let my coffee cool down before I put the lid on. It seems like the rubber ring had stretched and I couldn't get it to fit back in groove under the lid. I was able to get a replacement from Contigo but exactly the same thing happened again, after using the mug for a month. I was very careful with it, hand washed it gently every day, and never closed it until the beverage cooled down. I've had other Contigo travel mugs in the past, that lasted for a long time and were great quality (the Autoseals are good), but my experience with this model was very frustrating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lid hard to get twist on!! I love the mug, once I can get the Lid screwed on the mug. Very hard to get the Lid twisted on the mug to where it doesn't leak when trying to drink from it. I bought 3 of these and they all have the same problem. They have been hand washed, not put in a dishwasher. The concept is great, but the product fails to perform as it should.

I love that it keeps my hot drinks hot and my cold drinks cold, and that it does not leak at all when closed. However, I am disappointed by the quality of the lid. The rubber where you open the water bottle wore down to the point of separating from the plastic of the lid. I trimmed it down and plan to continue to use the water bottle for as long as I can, but hope that the replacement lid becomes available to purchase online soon.

I wanted a bottle to use for water that wasn't plastic, so I purchased this one. It's great...IF I make sure to twist the lid on super tightly. Even when I think I do, I take a drink and get dribbles of water all down the front of me. I have to twist the lid on so tightly to avoid this, I have trouble getting the lid off! Because I like my other Contigo mug, I will try a different model. Don't like this one.

Price is very reasonable, Style is very nice, I use mine for coffee and it keeps the coffee extremely hot for at least 5 hours maybe more. I have to take the top off just so I can drink it because its too hot. Given that its metal there is no rust. Cleaning is very easy. I have no problems with it. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to take their coffee on the go and keep it hot

It keeps hot for hours and is very durable and spill-proof when the lid is closed. Took a beating on the boat on lake Erie and was working great. My only complaint is that the drinking hole is tiny so only a little comes out at once. I wouldn't recommend if you are trying to chug water or something cold, but it is perfect for sipping coffee or tea. It's a little tough to open but loosens up a little over time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from SNAPSEAL lid gasket Mug works as advertised until the lid gasket deteriorates. Then while the cup is structurally sound, it is essentially useless for it's purpose. Gaskets are not available through the company and using the warranty page to replace an entire cup is a lot of hoops to jump through (with photos?) for a small part that I'm sure the company knows is going to fail. Parts like this should be made available on the web site. It is easier to buy a new cup. Planned obsolescence?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from can not drink from them I have 4! of these mugs and every single one of them, the o-ring has fallen out and can not be put back in properly. With that being said, you can not drink from them, unless you want to wear your coffee!! Very disappointing when they aren't exactly cheap. I end up using mine to get my coffee to my office (generally making a mess in my cup holder) and then pouring my drink into a coffee cup. I also have one that does not keep anything warm for more than 30 minutes

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot drinks stay hot for hours Both me and my husband use these contigo travel mugs. I use it for hot coffee and he uses it for hot tea. It stays hot for hours. We love the blue colors and each of us have a slightly different shade so we know who’s is who’s lol. We have had them for over a year and they are durable leak proof and easy to clean. No residue dishwasher safe and we use a lil brush to get all the nooks cleaned as well. We love this brand and are very loyal to it. Highly recommended

On my first purchase the rubber seal on the lid kept falling out and cup constantly leaked so I thought might just be my bad luck so bought another one as I did like the fact that it kept my coffee hot for over an hour unfortunately after a week of use with my new cup the same rubber seal failed and not just a leak this time burning hot coffee sprayed out the lid scalding my hand. I will not be buying a third cup

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WORSE DESIGN EVER Company Should be sued defect machine for people burning themself on hot coffee , we purchased it new from store ,rinsed it out and made coffee. filled it to the line it said to and let it cool a bit . as soon as we put the lid on went to take a drink i now had hot coffee burning my lips and coffee spilling down my clothing It poured out of the spout like a river GET RID OF THIS DESIGN .Never buy another ,Now im out throwing $ 30 in the garbage

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very leak proof. Liquids only stay hot for a few hours and need reheating, it keeps things cold better. The lid is hard to clean especially if you have smoothies or soup. Lid is absolutely not leak proof. When I use these mugs I feel like I'm handling an egg because even the slightest tip or tilt will cause the contents to spill. Not good if you have an active lifestyle or work. I've ruined clothing and bags because of this and this is my 2nd mug with this issue.

I've spent many days looking througIh the cabinets at my work, looking into the cabinets at home, trying to mix and match lids with the right thermos. I finally have found what I was looking for. Very pleased with the design, the sturdy metal shell, and the leak-proof spout. Will definitely be purchasing this exact brand (possibly even this model) for life!
