I have to admit that I couldn't figure out for the life in me how to get the lid off for the first few minutes and it turns out to be simpler then what it looks. The handle with the entire top unscrew in one piece to reveal that the directions are tucked inside of it. The inside is insulated steel and NOT ceramic and the no spill lid has a chrome slide side button on the handle to close and lock in place. Slide the chrome button in the opposite direction to open and your able to sip from either side whether your right handed or left handed. Kept my coffee hot but NOT scorching hot for several hours. It fits nicely in the cup holder in my van. Top Quality!! Love the amazing modern and sleek look with the gun metal sheen to it. This item is hand wash only which is effortless!

Doesn't leak no matter what, keeps it cold here in Fl., I can lock the lid so grandkids can't sneak a drink, accessable from both sides, easy to clean and i can't think of enough things to say about it. This is my third over 5 years. Metal version best.

It fits under most on-demand beverage makers. It has the 16 Oz capacity for those who drink it with other add-ins. Best of all it is the easiest Travel Mug to Clean EVER! Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would LOVE if the lid didn't keep BREAKING I have purchased 6 of these mugs because they are awesome. They have a nice handle, don't spill if tipped over, and the locking mechanism allows me to throw it in a bag and not worry about it spilling. BUT! I have had to purchase 6 because every single lid/handle system has broken. Eventually the push down quits working and you can't get any liquid out. I now just have 5 mugs with no lids. I would purchase the lids only if that was available but it isn't.

Purchased a new one about a year ago and now the thumb button on top of the handle wont push the two hole stoppers down far enough to let any coffee out. Sound like from other reviews I have read on here, you can’t purchase a replacement lid for it either. So I hope my original one stays working as this new one is worthless now.

Namely, the spring action in the lid that allows for drinking, has failed. All 3 of these mugs (one purchased for a gift) have been set aside because of the malfunctioning lids. Is it possible to purchase 3 new lids? Has the design issue been addressed for further purchases? We really want to continue to use these mugs. Thank you. Ellen

Mechanism fails from wear, dimensional failure of plastic parts, or something. Much as I love Contigo coffee travel mugs, I am my 3rd, and probably last one I will buy. 3 of these mugs have set me back almost $100, I don't think I will spend that again on prone to fail products. Contigo! Wake up! The last 2 travel mugs you have manufactured don't hold up.

It keeps everything cold all day long and my coffee hot for 6 hours or more. I love it and need like 6 more of them. The lid is super cool because it doesn't leak and is easy to clean. I would recommend this mug to anyone looking for a bottle or mug that will keep things cold and hot for long periods of time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cap design problem Would be great but after a few months the lid fails to open when the button is depressed. The good thing is that Contigo will replace the mug. However I bought 3 initially and had to replace all 3. Those 3 replacements all had the exact same issue.. if they fix the mechanism that controls the plunger, this would be a great mug. It is unfortunate as I had 3 of the old design for several years, using every day without a problem.

This was ten years ago. I've purchase three additionally mugs since this first one, because of lost. I've had two mugs fail during that time due to multiple drops and being run over by golf carts. I really like the design of the handle because it can attach to my belt or pocket when my hands are unavailable.

I agree that it seems like a design flaw or quality problem. I'm very happy with my Contigo products overall, but they have to do better than this. Too bad, too, because I love the style and ease of use for this mug. Also, I can find no replacement lids for this model. If the lids are failing at this rate, they should at least offer lids.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad technology for the lid. I purchase 2 of these Contigo Handled Autoseal stainless steel travel nugs, with easy clean lid, one wine and one evergreen. The evergreen mug lid does not open the drinking holes, as well as the Red Wine one is on its way doing the same thing, not opening the drinking holes. Very disappointed with this technology. Can the lids be replaced, as this is an expensive mug. Thank you for your immediate response.

Not only does it have the same quality I expect from Contigo, but it keeps my hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for much longer than I expected. I love filling it in the morning and knowing that by the time I reach my destination, my drink will still be perfect and the auto seal assures me that I'll keep my drink right where I want it and not on my car seats!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the travel mug...BUT I need a travel mug with a handle. Your mug is great for travel and for keeping my coffee hot. However, the mechanism for drinking has worn out! The plunger no longer opens the drinking holes. I had two of the older model and was so pleased with the improved top (ease of cleaning!) that I bought three of the new model. This problem seems to be a design flaw. Please consider offering replacement lids!

It also has auto-seal technology, so you can avoid spills and leaks of your liquid of choice. The lid is easy to clean or put in the dishwasher. However, the mug itself is hand wash only. For me it is a little awkward to hold, since the handle doesn't attach to the mug at the bottom. Love the green color of this mug.

My problem is i have many bottom parts of the cup but the lids do not hold up long enough for me. I do not mind buying a new lid but cant seem to find a replacement lid. I now have 3 cups but none of my lids work. My very favorite tumbler. If only i could buy more lids i would be so happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best coffee mug I’ve ever owned. This is the best coffee mug I’ve ever owned. It’s keeps my coffee hot for hours on end. With that said, the lid is giving me issues lately. The thumb button has been opening the holes less and less and now it won’t open them at all. 4 out of 5 stars due to this design flaw. However, the lid’s thumb mechanism is the only issue I’ve had and absolutely love this cup. I wish I had a replacement lid for it.

When pressing the thumb button, it does not allow much water to flow in order to drink. If I turn the cup the wrong way, water escapes from the vent on the top of the cup. Is it possible to get another lid for the cup as otherwise I have been completely satisfied with the cup. Thank you.

The mug has a therma-lock that locks everything in tightly and leaves no leakage once locked. The mug is easy to assemble. With the therma-lock I can hold a cold beverage for fifteen hours or more and the ice hardly melts once in the mug! The hot drinks hold heat for about five hours. Every sip tastes fresh after several hours without losing any flavors. The mug is stylish, comfortable with a sturdy handle. You can sit it out in the sun for hours and your drink is still cold or hot depending on the beverage. Also, the mug is easy to clean and dries fast. The handle on this mug makes it the best thing ever because it makes it so easy to hold on to while traveling. This mug is everything you need. I am grateful to have one and have been telling all of my friends how amazing it is

I contacted the company and received a replacement, but the same problem occurred. The level does not seem to operate anymore, so the coffee does not come out. He and I both were very vigilant in cleaning it each use, but the problem has reached the point where it is again unusable.

Unfortunately the lid of my current one is starting to fail. The push-button mechanism has worn out, so that when I press it barely anything comes out. in the interest of not creating unnecessary waste, is it possible to purchase just a replacement lid? The tumbler is still in great shape, so I'd rather not toss it out.

The only problem I have had with it, is the plastic part inside the handle is to weak and after a month or two it doesn't open enough to get a drink out of it. In one of them I had, the plastic part inside the handle actually broke off. I hope they fix this problem and leave everything else the same.
