Loved the design BUT Handle Button Stopped Working
I loved the look and design of this travel mug. It worked awesome and kept the coffee hot for hours but the handle button stopped working after 4 months. The company replaced it and after 4.5 months the replacement had the same problem. I'm going to try the Randolph design instead. If Contigo can figure out the problem and fix it, I would buy this item again as I was very happy with it while it worked.

Not so good after a year.....
Great concept for either hand however on our 2nd set as after time push down button loses spring tention and does not push down the stopper mechanism to allow liquid to come out. Washed and cleaned many times.

Lid design needs work
I purchased numerous contigo mugs and such. Bought 2 of these and the lid design is terrible. After a while it will not open when you push the lever down to get a drink. This happened on both so I doubt I just had a bad one. Now my other contigo mugs still work great. I just liked the color of this one. Useless now. I wouldn't pay for a new lid to work for a short time again.

Works ... mostly, for a while.
More of less the same as others...
- From the beginning, the ridge in the middle crashes in to my nose, so I have to lean my head back to drink, which is not the most convenient (especially while driving)
- Just a year or so old, and the trigger mechanism barely opens the sip holes any more, and it leaks slightly from the pressure valve, especially when I tilt it back, trying to actually get some coffee out of it.
But the handle is great, and the style and size of the cup works perfectly in cup holders. And it doesn't leak when closed... just when I'm drinking from it.
Lid design could use some work. I'd even probably order a replacement lid, if I could figure out how to do that, although it's not that old.

I love this thing!!!!
I don’t drink hot liquids but I do love my drinks to be ice cold. So I had recently been using these type mugs. Problem with what I had been using is 1- im a klutz and 2- my cats a klutz. So often the cups get knocked over. I had the plastic sealing lids and after so many opens and closes the seals we’re wearing down. This cup is now my favorite because it has a locking lid!! I have never seen a cup like that. If fact my Dad liked it so much I’m getting him one for a gift cause he is just as clumsy and this will keep him from spilling his coffee. It also keeps your drinks cooler way longer than you think. I can go to sleep with a drink and ice in this and wake up in the morning and there is still ice and cold drinks. It also keeps your drinks from watering down as much. Since the cup keeps the ice frozen.

Defective Lid
Received this for Christmas to replace my old Contigo that must be 10 years old by now. My new one worked great for over a little over 2 months and then I couldn't drink out of it anymore. The lever won't open the drinking ports so I can take a drink. Tried trouble shooting and everything works but the component inside does travel far enough to push on the lever to open the drinking ports. I even thought about trying to glue a piece on so it would reach the lever. The only time I use it is to keep extra coffee warm so I can pour it into my ten-year old Contigo.

Hubby loves it!
My husband received this mug as a Father's Day gift from our son. He assumed that it was "just another mug," not really understanding how awesome Contigo products are! (I have 3 auto-seal's myself!). My husband had had an accident, falling 20 feet and subsequent shoulder surgery so he needed something with a handle. (He can't grasp a mug without a handle, therefore he couldn't try my mugs.) He absolutely fell in love with this mug the first time he used it. It keeps his coffee hot until the last drop! It's spill-proof, which is wonderful for him, as he drops a lot of things from his hand not having full use. Now, if for some reason I try to give him his coffee in anything but this mug, he grumbles! He liked it so much that when my boss was retiring due to medical issues, he recommended that we purchase one for him. It was a huge hit!

Same lid problem
My lid is failing for a second time! The mugs work great for about 2 years, then the thumb mechanism no longer opens the holes far enough, and then it also leaks out of the vent hole and handle. I mainly hand wash the lid with the second one thinking that it was related to using the dishwasher! I've tried all of the recommended fixes, and none of them worked. They are covered under warranty, but I would rather have a product that didn't fail.

Fantastic product, but
I really Love this mug, it keeps ice a long time, when outdoors keeps the bugs out and fluid stays in when walking the dog. You're pretty much guaranteed to not have a messy cleanup if you're accident prone. I've had mine almost a year and my only complaint is I can't find a replacement top for my mug that's still in excellent condition. The top is a bit of a pain to clean and my vision isn't the best for troubleshooting the current issue I'm having with it. The thumb release mechanism is having issues since the last cleaning and liquid is exiting the pressure release slit instead of the drinking holes.
I recommend this product because it's lasted longer and worked better than any other I've had. I'll definitely purchase another.

Worst design ever!
Should have keep with the old design, this lid handle sucks. The ridge through the middle leaves no place for your nose to go while you drink. You need to fire your engineer! I'm sending mine back!

Very disappointed
I’ve been using Contigo mugs for years, and typically love them. Not a fan of this handled one.
Started out happy with the mug, but after only 7 months it has basically become useless. The thumb button that opens the mug has loosened to the point where the holes do not open very far, resulting in coffee leaking out the vent hole and onto my shirt.
Guess I’ll have to abandon this mug and resort to using one of my old ones.

Good at First, But Deteriorates
I Feel Exactly As This Other Reviewer Commented, In Fact I Copied His Comment Verbatim: This mug has performed very well for the past year. It's easy to use and keeps coffee hot for s long time. However, (here it comes) I'm having the very same problem with the lid that so many other reviewers are reporting. The thumb button mechanism no longer opens the drinking holes. It seems to have worn out. I agree that it seems like a design flaw or quality problem. I'm very happy with my Contigo products overall, but they have to do better than this. Too bad, too, because I love the style and ease of use for this mug. Also, I can find no replacement lids for this model. If the lids are failing at this rate, they should at least offer lids.

stops working
So I'm on Contigo 4. They work great for the first few months and I like them since I'm on number 4. The problem is that after a few months of daily use the self sealing lid becomes a permanantly sealed lid. I took the first two back to the original sales vendor and got two more but it was work. I will now be attempting the secon two, I pened this review wanting to insure Contigo was aware of the issu and that anyone buying a $20 coffee cup would know of the issue. On the positive side; it works as advertised. release the pour lever and you can turn it upside down and not get any spillage. I wouldn't say I would recomend this product to a friend but I have told them about the Contigo and the fact that I'm now on number 4. I hate to tell a friend about a product I know won't last but I also love the termal heat retention and the no spill application.

I would give this product 10 Stars if I could it is a perfect size it even has a lock so you're not accidentally opening and also is spill proof which I tested and it actually does not spill the easy press button to take a sip is it at the perfect comfortable location and this mug is absolutely perfect I will definitely be buying more and I highly recommend

New design is awful☹️
We have had several of the “old style” Randolph mugs that we have used successfully for many years. Decided to buy a couple of more but we are VERY disappointed with the new lids. The part that says Contigo is too big and you have to tip your head back too far while drinking. Very uncomfortable to use. Bring back the old style again please. Won’t purchase again till this design flaw is fixed.

No room for my nose, please bring back th Randolph
We have been Randolph users for years. When first seeing this model, I bought this for my wife who tolerates the mug, but I do not like it because the center of the lid is not depressed like the Randolph lid, so my nose hits the center of the lid. My wife's only complaint is that she can not get all the beverage out, always leaving an amount of the cup. This may be because of the design.

ANOTHER failed lid on the Handled AUTOSEAL.
Same problem with the lid failing here. This is my third mug since it fits my cup holder perfectly. I have been trying in vain to find a replacement handle but no luck. If I can't get a new lid or some assistance from Contigo, I'm heading to some other brand already. $25-$30 per cup is not unreasonable for the quality of the base but spending that about once a year is too much for me.

Good but wore out quick
I purchased at a Walmart on a weekend trip in February to watch college softball when the lids on the hotel coffee mugs kept cracking and leaking coffee. I LOVED this mug. Except for the last week, the lid started leaking coffee everywhere when I tried to drink. I cleaned the lid really well thinking it might be something in there. I also tried all the mechanisms to see what was causing the leak. I would love to try another one but after reading the reviews I think I'm going to have the same problem. It wasn't a cheap travel mug.

Doesn't last
This is the fourth travel mug we have had from Contigo. The first was Contigo Randolph Autoseal. It had a handle with a lever you pushed down. The lever stopped opening the two holes that let the coffee through in less than 6 months. I like the idea of one hand opening for coffee flow so we are now am on the next 3 mugs, all the above Autoseal style. My wife had one as I did. After a few months the spring lever on top would not open the two openings. I contacted Contigo and they sent me a new replacement. In the mean time I was using my wife's and the same problem. When the replacement arrived, after several months, same thing. In all models there appears to be a spring that opens the flow holes or in my case doesn't for all. I use it every day and not one has lasted more than 6 months. Tired of going back to Contigo if this will always occur. Have read on web others have the same problem. No more Contigo.Off to Thermos.

Don't waste your money
I bought the contigo leak proof mug because I got tired of my beverages leaking while riding my motorcycle. I like the first one so good I bought another. But to my surprise they both started leaking after a month. The gasket in the lid popped out. I can't tell you about their customer service they are impossible to get ahold of. I wash my hands of them.

Great mug but lid wears out too quickly.
I have purchased three of these mugs. I love them at first. However I agree with a lot of the other reviews. I had one lid wear out and was replaced. Currently that lid as well as one additional lid stopped opening. I am down to one mug. I do not see replacement lids offered. I think that they lid opening design needs to be modified and fixed.

Should have stuck to the Byron model
I live in the UK. Each time I visit the USA I buy a new handles travel mug. I have three Byrons and sung their praises constantly. In March on a visit to Seattle I couldn’t find a Byron, so got this model.
Where to start? Positives: if filled properly it doesn’t leak and it keeps my coffee hot for hours. Negatives: The new style handle bridges the lid and makes it hard to drink from. Once I’ve had a few sips the mug has to be tilted so steeply that hot coffee spurts from the other opening. After several gulps the only way to drink the coffee is to remove the lid. Additionally, I can’t use it in the car as the extra height means it won’t fit my cup holder.
I’m really loathe to post this as I’ve been a huge Contigo fan for around 10 years. I think this model is Contigo’s first fail and can’t believe it got through testing and I’m the only one with the problem.
Stick to Byron - my first one is still going strong after 10 years or thereabouts.

Best coffee cup!
I work in a school and first off it keeps my coffee hot enough thru most of the day that I can still drink it hours later! (When I remember I have it) Second I love that I can lock the lid and no little fingers can figure it out so even if it's dropped etc I'm not worried about it spilling! Also love how easy it is to keep the lid clean!

springs get weak; becomes impossible to drink from
Stays hot but the springs on the top button weakened and so very little coffee will come out of the holes. Also the TWO holes on top have been a problem, as once the flow started getting slow I would tip it up high in order to try to get the coffee to come out faster and it would come out both holes and get all over my face and shirt.

Will not open the sipping hole w/ thumb button
Bought at BestBuy, great looking mug. But, after a few months the thumb button will no longer open the sipping holes. I have look inside and everything seems in place. Great mug, it allows you to open the hole mechanism for easy cleaning. However, the open mechanism has stopped working.

was a great borrle for a while.
I used this mug so much that my wife bought a second one to use while one was in the dishwasher. First mug just stopped working. The trigger no longer pushes the valve open enough to get any liquid out. If I tip it way up, some drops come out on me from what appears to be a vent. I wonder how long the second one will work?
