My niece was raving about these mugs. She has a mug fetish. So while visiting her in Texas, I went to the local Target and purchased the 24 oz. size Autoseal West Loop Stainless Travel Mug with Open-Access Lid. I liked it, when I used it in TX, but I loved it when I returned to CA because the lid really keeps liquids from leaking. Unlike many of the reviewers, I use my mug strictly for ice and water. I fill my mug with crushed ice either at night and leave it in the fridge until the next morning, or I fill the mug with crushed ice in the morning before I leave for work. The point is, I can drink cold water at my desk all day and not have to worry about if there's ice in the plastic ice trays in the office fridge. Of course, everyone wants ice, but no one wants to fill the ice trays. So, I no longer have that to worry about. The best thing is, I can toss my mug in my canvas bag in the morning and throw it over my shoulder and not have to worry about the ice melting and getting all over whatever else I have in my bag. I totally feel this is a 5-star product, but the only issue I have is the condensation that builds-up on the lid from my ice. Condensation is moisture and that can almost seem like a leak. Fortunately, the moisture from the lid, hasn't been so much that it's caused anything in my canvas bag to become damaged. Not yet anyway. So, if you folks at Contigo are reading this and can figure out what material to use on the lid to reduce or eliminate condensation for those of us who use our mugs for strictly ice and cold liquids; that would be way cool!

The best Travel mug I ever had.

I started my Contigo experience a few years ago with the 20 oz. West Loop Stainless Travel Mug with Easy-Clean Lid. I was hooked from the moment I opened it up. Thoughtful design (fits in cup holders, easily washed, ergonomic button placement), keeps hot liquids hot for hours, cold liquids cold for even longer, and completely leak free. When the 24 oz. model came out I snatched it up. I have a history of mugs that didn't seal, didn't keep things warm, and had pieces break off. Contigo is the last travel mug you will purchase (except for all the others you will want to give as gifts). Cheers!

I got this cup as a Christmas present and absolutely love it since keep my coffee warm all the way to the last drop, however is really hard to clean the lid, I normally put it on the dishwasher but even with that does not get clean, I drink my coffee with milk and one day I notice some residue, so I try to clean it and kind of was OK,, that is what i thought, I decided to put water and soap and shake it upside down and there was an insane amount of residue that was coming off the cup, now I have to do this every day and still doesn't get clean, there should be a way to pull it apart to be able to clean it better. I know that is an expensive cup and I love it but I am going to buy a new one that I can clean better than this.

I have had the 24oz mug for 2+years now. I use it every day, all day long. I am a hugh coffee drinker and this is the best mug I have ever had. No, it doesn't keep coffee piping hot all day long, but it does keep it hot enough for me. I am sure you noticed that it is not insulated. What did you expect. It keeps coffee hot for a pretty long time, just don't fill it halfway with cream and it stays hot. I love it because it doesn't leak and I have dropped it a last a dozen times with no leaking. A few dents but so what, I can live with it. The pour spout works better than any other mug I have owned, and that is a lot of mugs. Fits my hand well, easy to drink from without getting burned, and I like that I can put it in my back pocket when I am working or walking around. I can't say enough about this mug. It is great. My only problem with it is that it is out of stock. Bummer. The cover does deteriorate after a couple years and I just noticed you sell replacement covers. So, problem solved. I'll buy the cover till you get the mugs in.

I'm now on the 4th lid for this mug. Every one of them, including the old style, hissed. I drink tea, and I like it hot. I also mostly drink out of a double walled glass cup that I pour the tea from the Contigo into. It is fine when the mug is full but as soon as I pour some out, the lid starts to hiss, very loudly. It is so loud that I sometimes have to move it to another room. Seems that there isn't enough tension on the spring that seals the spout. Very disappointed in this product. I've gone back to my Stanley mug which doesn't leak, doesn't hiss and keeps things hotter for longer. And I'm not required to keep the lid off for 3 minutes to let the contents cool down. Isn't the whole purpose of a thermos to keep hot things hot?

We purchased 4 of these travel mugs and three are going strong after a few months. One had a bad lid that fell apart.
When I tried to request a replacement lid I was told I needed to download two photos of the lid. We haven't been able to load the photos and customer service refuses to help us at all and told us to send it back. The replacement is 7 dollars and they want me to mail this back because I can't load the photos??
After all the mugs and water bottles we have purchased over the years they will throw away a good customer because the photos wont load. Thanks for nothing.

I needed a larger mug to hold more ice tea. This fit the bill. Keeps tea cold for hours and hours. I only wish Contigo would find a way to make a large mug with a straw so that I didn't have to tip it so far to drink when there isn't much left.

    By angiemak

it doesnt keep tea or coffee warm, if you add any milk or cream , you cant keep it from getting smelly and very hard to clean , permanently stains the inside , and get the stench out , it holds up to the leak test thogh

After first buying two 16-oz travel mugs of this kind, my family became a HUGE fan for our on-the-go coffee needs. The lid being leak/spill-proof is key, but also was its ability to keep coffee hot/warm for many hours. So, it was natural for us to buy a 24oz version for those mornings when we needed more coffee capacity.

What a disappointment. Not only does it not hold heat for the amount of time advertised, it was almost too hot to hold with a bare hand. The seal / easy wash top still works well (doesn't leak, etc.), but the body is clearly manufactured differently than it's 16-oz cousin. If keeping you coffee/hot drink warm is the reason you buy this mug...don't buy this one. Buy the 16-oz instead.

I stand by the 16-oz version...won't buy anything else as long as they don't change the heat retention / spill-proof design.

I am loving the new large 24 oz Travel mug. I keep one on my night stand for my night time thirst and it perfect size to keep me hydrated. I love that it keeps my water cold for a looong time.

I love the Contigo brand. I have all three of the west loop mugs, and I would not travel far from home without one of them coming with me. I mainly use this one for ice and water, but I have also used it for hot tea, which stays hot for me throughout an 8-hour work day in a restaurant. I know I am a firm believer in the Contigo Brand because I have other products by them and their products are definitely worth the money spent on them.

I've tried all the rest but continue to buy the contigo. Keeps coffee hot. Only replace them because of cosmetic looks. They get banged up a lot on my job.

    By Motormama

Love this! My husband and I both have these. We use them on our motorcycle trips for ice and water. The ice will last all day.

    By pianoman

I am disappointed with this mug. I love the size but it does not keep my coffee warm for a long time, one hour or so. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. But for the cost of it I was hoping it would keep my coffee warm for much longer time

this mug rocks! i've been looking for the perfect coffee travel mug for years, generally went with Starbucks, but their lids are bad. the lid on this is AWESOME; no leaks, easy on/off, easy to clean, low maintenance and, the best part, coffee actually COMES OUT when you want it to!

    By Stuart

Why does this model not come with the Easy Clean Lid and in the same variety of colors as my 16 and 20 oz. versions?

    By Morgan

Really love this mug!! It is completely spill proof, keeps my coffe hot for hours, and fits in my cup holder in the car. I have the 20 oz and really wanted more coffee in the morning so now the 24 oz is even more perfect! Never going to use another tumbler again!

This is a great product! large enough, insulated, easy clean lid, leak proof, fits in a car cup holder.... it has everything!

I know it is winter but I love ice cold water. I have had ice last over 16 hours during the summer in this mug.

avid coffee drinker,.....keep it warm since I usually have to reheat several times before I can finish

This new 24oz size is nice for that extra buzz on a Monday morning, but there's no way it's compatible with \most single cup coffee brewers\". It's four inches away from being compatible with my Keurig."

    By drp

Judging from the two other reviews I think I may have a defective mug because this mug does not keep my coffee hot for very long at all. Within an hour it is at most lukewarm with and after two it is almost ice coffee.

Having used the Contigo Grace bottle for the last year or so, my only complaint was that my water would quickly get warm (especially in the car). So I looked for something insulated and after reading the West Loop offered what I wanted, I thought I'd give it a shot.

Upon initial comparison, I was a little bummed that it didn't have the carry loop of the Grace because that's how I would hold my bottle about 90% of the time. However, the stainless steel was a much nicer look and felt great in the hand. I washed it and put it use the very next morning. I took a drink about an hour later and my drink was as cold as water I pull it out right from the fridge. Another couple of hours later, still as cold...ok, now I'm really diggin this thing.

The true test that this product does every bit of what it says was when I left it in my car on a 85憛 day to go shopping. Getting back in the car about 45 mins later, my water was still very cold! At that moment, I was sold and have been singing its praises to anyone who wants to hear me rant about water bottles.

This mug is so fantastic, I bought 2 at the time of ordering to give one as a gift and guess what...I'm keeping it as a back-up in case something ever happens to this. I figure my word of mouth advertising will be enough to get my friends and relatives to get one (or more) of their own.

These are the largest insulated spill proof mugs that Contigo makes. In hot, muggy Central Florida, this mug keeps my drinks cold for hours at a time even if they're kept in a car with the windows closed. I can't wait until they make a larger model. I just wish they made a locking button for it.

    By drp

In reference to my previous review. It was definitely a defective mug. I have since replaced it with the same model the new one keeps my coffee nice and hot for hours.

This morning - hot, humid, muggy day in Boston, I left my West Loop Stainless Steel Contigo bottle in the car (stupid me!) while I went to play 18 holes..The bad news is that it was so hot, we quit playing after 14 holes. The good news is that the ice water in my contigo bottle was still ice cold when I drank it when I got back in my car...even though the temp in my car had to be 100 degrees or more. Bravo, Contigo!

I have been buying Contigo products for a long time. These are the best yet. We ride a motorcycle and both my husband and I carry these on our bike. We always have cold water close at hand. We live in Central California where the summer temp. is consistently over 100 degrees. Coming home from a ride the other day the outside of my stainless mug was hot. But inside was still cold and still had ice. Love this product.

I have a lot of Contigo mugs BUT this 24 oz monster is the best so far, great for hot or cold and size means less refills, real time-saver. You can't misplace it because you can see it wherever you leave it. People think I am carrying a club which makes it a natural defensive tool just based on it looks, I just love it. DB

Great mug keeps drinks cold forever .. Well at least overnight. Hot isn't as good, but definitely better than any others I've tried. One other great benefit not mentioned so far .. It holds carbonation in pop. It might not be recommended, but does a great job. Just beware to press the open lid button before getting dink close to your face. It releases a little pfftt with some micro droplets upward. For me, this is a minor inconvenience for cold pop that doesn't go flat.

Two minor issues .. One, the mug is too tall to fit into many automatic dispensers of hot liquids, but no problems with most pop dispensers.

Two, I'd recommend the stainless color .. ie. no paint. While I expect dings and such of my own doing, I didn't expect taking the lid off & on to scratch the paint off. The plastic area that holds the autoseal button hangs down onto the bottle 2-3 inches, and the twisting motion of removing & replacing the lid causes it to drag across the painted area.

5 stars for functionality, but maybe 3 for finish.

I already have a 16 oz Contigo travel mug, but I needed something larger that I could put ice and water into and be able to leave it in the car and have it remain cold for me. I live in a hot desert region, and when the temperature is pushing 125 degrees, just simple things like shopping is torture without having something cold to drink. I used to have to keep a bottle of water in my purse because if I left it in the car, even for 15 minutes, the water heated up. But, now I fill this 24 oz Contigo travel mug halfway with ice, then fill with water and it stays cold, even when left in a very hot car all day long. It will even have little pieces of ice inside! Plus, I'm doing my part to be green by not using so many plastic water bottles. Since this is a little taller than my other travel mug, instead of putting this in my console cup holder, I usually put this in the cup holder of my car door, and it works perfectly and isn't in my way. I've recommended this to my friends and family and they all love it too. Best product ever!! Thanks Contigo!!
