Smells!

Posted on 3/2/2016 by Gail

I love the mug as far as keeping drinks hot. But if I drink tea it tastes like coffee and if I drink coffee it tastes like tea. How do you clean these cups? The interior stains as well. I never knew stainless stains like that. How do you clean it? I've used bottle brushes even Brillo. And with that I need to use tongs to fit into the cup and reach the bottom and it still doesn't clean it. What am I doing wrong?
Good to Go

Product works well for coffee or tea, no real issues. The inside does stain but who really needs it to look nice in there. Lid lasts much better than the plastic water bottle lids, the seal doesnt seem to fail the same way.
Not for coffee

The Autoseal mechanism sure keeps the mug leak free, but is a hassle to operate for simple sipping of coffee or tea. The hot liquid comes out so hot that I've blistered my lip, so I recommend pouring the beverage into another cup....which ruins the simplicity of a travel mug. I wouldn't recommend this mug for hot liquids.

I take this can everywhere I go, and I refill it
all day with water or lemonade!
Almost perfect, except for the condensation on the lid.

My niece was raving about these mugs. She has a mug fetish. So while visiting her in Texas, I went to the local Target and purchased the 24 oz. size Autoseal West Loop Stainless Travel Mug with Open-Access Lid. I liked it, when I used it in TX, but I loved it when I returned to CA because the lid really keeps liquids from leaking. Unlike many of the reviewers, I use my mug strictly for ice and water. I fill my mug with crushed ice either at night and leave it in the fridge until the next morning, or I fill the mug with crushed ice in the morning before I leave for work. The point is, I can drink cold water at my desk all day and not have to worry about if there's ice in the plastic ice trays in the office fridge. Of course, everyone wants ice, but no one wants to fill the ice trays. So, I no longer have that to worry about. The best thing is, I can toss my mug in my canvas bag in the morning and throw it over my shoulder and not have to worry about the ice melting and getting all over whatever else I have in my bag. I totally feel this is a 5-star product, but the only issue I have is the condensation that builds-up on the lid from my ice. Condensation is moisture and that can almost seem like a leak. Fortunately, the moisture from the lid, hasn't been so much that it's caused anything in my canvas bag to become damaged. Not yet anyway. So, if you folks at Contigo are reading this and can figure out what material to use on the lid to reduce or eliminate condensation for those of us who use our mugs for strictly ice and cold liquids; that would be way cool!

The best Travel mug I ever had.
Best travel mug EVER!

I started my Contigo experience a few years ago with the 20 oz. West Loop Stainless Travel Mug with Easy-Clean Lid. I was hooked from the moment I opened it up. Thoughtful design (fits in cup holders, easily washed, ergonomic button placement), keeps hot liquids hot for hours, cold liquids cold for even longer, and completely leak free. When the 24 oz. model came out I snatched it up. I have a history of mugs that didn't seal, didn't keep things warm, and had pieces break off. Contigo is the last travel mug you will purchase (except for all the others you will want to give as gifts). Cheers!
liquids specially milk won't clean easily

Posted on 6/1/2015 by Yolanda

I got this cup as a Christmas present and absolutely love it since keep my coffee warm all the way to the last drop, however is really hard to clean the lid, I normally put it on the dishwasher but even with that does not get clean, I drink my coffee with milk and one day I notice some residue, so I try to clean it and kind of was OK,, that is what i thought, I decided to put water and soap and shake it upside down and there was an insane amount of residue that was coming off the cup, now I have to do this every day and still doesn't get clean, there should be a way to pull it apart to be able to clean it better. I know that is an expensive cup and I love it but I am going to buy a new one that I can clean better than this.
love this mug, best one on the market

I have had the 24oz mug for 2+years now. I use it every day, all day long. I am a hugh coffee drinker and this is the best mug I have ever had. No, it doesn't keep coffee piping hot all day long, but it does keep it hot enough for me. I am sure you noticed that it is not insulated. What did you expect. It keeps coffee hot for a pretty long time, just don't fill it halfway with cream and it stays hot. I love it because it doesn't leak and I have dropped it a last a dozen times with no leaking. A few dents but so what, I can live with it. The pour spout works better than any other mug I have owned, and that is a lot of mugs. Fits my hand well, easy to drink from without getting burned, and I like that I can put it in my back pocket when I am working or walking around. I can't say enough about this mug. It is great. My only problem with it is that it is out of stock. Bummer. The cover does deteriorate after a couple years and I just noticed you sell replacement covers. So, problem solved. I'll buy the cover till you get the mugs in.
defective lid design

I'm now on the 4th lid for this mug. Every one of them, including the old style, hissed. I drink tea, and I like it hot. I also mostly drink out of a double walled glass cup that I pour the tea from the Contigo into. It is fine when the mug is full but as soon as I pour some out, the lid starts to hiss, very loudly. It is so loud that I sometimes have to move it to another room. Seems that there isn't enough tension on the spring that seals the spout. Very disappointed in this product. I've gone back to my Stanley mug which doesn't leak, doesn't hiss and keeps things hotter for longer. And I'm not required to keep the lid off for 3 minutes to let the contents cool down. Isn't the whole purpose of a thermos to keep hot things hot?
