Bought a 3 pack at Costco for my kids to use at school and straws won't stay in the valve. My kids are too little to be able to open up the bottle and put the straw back in place. Stopped sending them bottles with them to school and started using them only when I am with them so I can put the straw back in place. Have only had them a month and 1 bottle was leaking after 2 weeks. Emailed the company, sent pictures and have been waiting 2 weeks and still haven't received a response, very disappointing.

my kids bring these bottles to school everyday. They don't leak and hold up well to their rough handling. I have a different color for each of my 3 kids. I think the only thing I would change is to have a stainless keep water cold longer - but the lid is super!

    By KatA

...and I am very disappointed in them. We use them strictly for water to avoid mold problems but they will not stay operational. My 3 yo is very disturbed when he can't get a drink, no matter what position he uses. The other 3 kids are older but still can't get decent usage from the bottles. They are broken after usage of 6 months time and we started with 8 cups and are down to 2.

    By irish

The cups were great when you first get them, but after using them for a while they do not work as well or at all. The you cannot suck anything out of the bottle.

    By Stephanie

These water bottles suck so bad. Your kid has to really SUCK to get anything out of them in the first place, the straws fall out constantly, and our straw/lid stopped working after only a month. And the process to get a replacement lid is RIDICULOUS. I wasted my money and hope no one else ever buys this bottle.

    By momof3

We love the bottles. We bought 6 from costco and use them daily. I have had no issue with the construction but i recently noticed mold or mildew growing in the spout. I hand wash the bottles every night. I can not get to the part where the mold is. Very disappointed.

I bought these at Costco in the 3 pack. Within 2 weeks, one of them had a small chip in the white plastic part inside the lid area where the straw attached--which left no suction ability at all. The other two are still working, but the straws fall out ALL THE TIME, I literally have to open the lid at least once or twice a day for my daughter to replace the straw that's fallen out of place. Contigo does have a lifetime replacement guarantee--and so I submitted my claim for the one that broke here: Hopefully that link will help others to submit their claims, and they can take this very poorly made product out of their business. I love their other products, and am just so surprised at these bottles being so awful.

I really wish I had read all these reviews before shelling out $10 at Target for a straw bottle to replace a leaky Thermos one. My son loves the color and the ease-of-use UNTIL the straw mechanism pops out. How frustrating! To open the bottle to fix...while he's at school? He's in kindergarten. This is ridiculous. I'm shocked at all these bad reviews, thought we just got a bad one. The search continues...

I have been looking to buy these but the comments have made me a bit skeptical. It does however seem that one common denominator is Costco. Anyway that it's an inferior contigo product being sold for Costco brands that might make it different from purchasing directly from contigo or another seller?

My triplets have these cups and after a while one broke. We could not suck air and after getting a replacement I checked it out more. Come to find out by cleaning it it cracked the rubber and I think thats what happened. Now I have another one doing the same but I follow the cleaning direction, BUT THERE IS MOLD growing where I can not reach..the only way to reach it is to pull on it a little and then the cup breaks :( Really disappointed because if that was fixed this would be a wonderful cup! Easy to use and my kids love it.

I have always been very happy with Contigo and sang their praises. However, we bought four of these a little over a month ago and three of the four developed leaks in the cap and no longer work! I am very upset about this. What a waste of money! It makes me what to rethink the Contigo brand. With two sets of twins, one kid Contigo is not enough.

We purchased a 3-pk of the Strikers water bottles for our three kids, thinking we'd get the same design quality as has been proven in our many Contigo metal/plastic travel mugs. Unfortunately, the inner straw holder, inner valve assembly, and the inner rubber spout are all poorly fitted and do not hold together inside the bottle. We've read, re-read, and read again the instructions, and we can not get the straws to stay intact. I believe the motion of unlocking the outer spout/mouthpiece produces a squeezing effect and it pushes the straw out of the valve assembly to free come loose during almost every use -- gently trying it myself with the same results:-(
Additionally, one of the clear rubber spouts (inside the lid) cracked and will now never form a tight seal down to valve assembly and straw). Receipt in hand, contacting customer service now.

I bought 2 bottles for my kids and they stopped working after less than 3 months of use. The suction stopped working and they can't suck any water out! Completely useless product and the website offers NO help at all!!!!

    By karrie1027

As so many reviewers have already stated, the tops of these bottles are defective. We purchased 6 of them from Costco and less than 6 months later none of them are working. The problems started almost immediately with the black seal coming loose - it is tricky to get it back in, but somehow my husband managed. By now most of them have simply lost suction and are useless. There is obviously a design flaw because I have so many other Contigo products that are fantastic! Wrote an email to the manufacturer hoping they will replace with a different design.

I bought two bottles from costco. One of the bottles had an issue with the straw staying in place. It fell out constantly. I was debating returning them to costco when the other bottle abruptly stopped working. Just like other reviewers, just sucking air. Thank goodness for costco's awesome return policy.

So many parts for such a simple task. And some of the parts are poorly designed! Seriously, two parts need to be pre-assembled BEFORE the straw is inserted AND before inserting into the lid?! And even then the assembly does not securely fit nor does it stay in place esp when ice is in the bottle. My suggestion: Buy a VERY well-designed Camelbak.

Like most of the other reviewers here, after a few months of use, the rubber tube inside the spout assembly in the lid has torn as a result of normal use. These are great when they work, but not worth the price given the 100% failure rate.

Also kind of disappointed that nobody from Contigo has addressed this issue in the comments, or elsewhere.

I have been looking for a good "straw" cup for some time. When you spend this much on one cup, you expect it to work. Oh how I wish I read the reviews before purchasing, but I did not. I just bought it yesterday. I can't tell you how many times I have had to put the straw back in. If I have to open his cup and touch the straw three to four times each cup full....I don't know. I really want to love the cup, but for heaven's sake, can you not get the straw to stay in? R&D - come on.

When this worked, we loved it. My son can use it easily and loves how the spout "pops up." He shows everyone how it works and it's hilarious. We've never had a problem with leaks, and I appreciate that the spout is covered when not in use. Also love that it can go in the dishwasher. But... After following all the care instructions carefully, we have had the same problem as other reviewers: all of a sudden we can suck nothing but air. We've used the bottle successfully for about 6 months of light use (about two uses a week). My husband and I felt really silly that we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, but it looks like lots of people can't figure it out either. I went out and bought a replacement bottle (not worth buying the extra lid for the $), and comparing the two, I still can't see what is wrong with the one that won't work. I will probably keep the broken one and try to convince my kid to use it without the straw, but not sure he'll buy that. Really wish Contigo would offer some guidance on the problem. I do love these bottles.

    By katie

No matter what i do and how hard i try to jam the straw in, it just does not stay. It slides out at least every hour and thats not jostling the bottle at all. If i actually give it to my son there is no chance of it staying in at all. How can they put something on the market like that and rip off so many people? I see i'm not the only one with this problem by the other reviews. These are not cheap, buyer be ware.

    By Bee

I purchased 9 of these bottles from CostCo and have had them for over a year. They are still in good condition except for the silicone mouth piece my son has chewed. I've had to put 4 of these bottles aside because they are a choking hazard. I contacted Contigo today to get a replacement piece and they don't make one. They offered me a 20% discount to purchase new bottles. No thank you! My bottles are useless now and will be in our landfills taking up space. This can all be avoided if you just made the tiny replacement piece I need. I'm not a happy customer!

I bought a pack of the autospout kid bottles and have had no problems. I would not buy any other kind. I have used them for over 6 months and my kids love them. I take the bottle all apart with the spout open and wash them in the dishwasher and they are still in great shape. I am on this site to buy a couple more for a trip we are going on.

    By Jenine482

I purchased two packs of these at Costco. I was frustrated with leaky cups and I love the closed spout to keep it clean. However, this product is majorly flawed. After a few months we are down to only 3. Three no longer work, the suction does not work. I tried it without the the straw but it still doesn't work We stopped putting them in the dishwasher but that doesn't seem to be the issue either. I'm angry to see so many others with the same problem. We would give this product 5 stars if it didn't have such a major design flaw. Please fix your product or get if off the shelves.

    By mom to 2

why does it stop working??? its too expensive for the suction to stop working! ive done everything! they need to fix this flaw pronto at 11 bucks a pop! come on Contigo! you can do better!

    By Chris

My wife bought 4 of these for our 4 kids. they weren't cheap, and we expected them to be great. She bought them because she knows I expect a lot from a water bottle for kids in terms of ease of use, not easily broken, etc.

From the very first day of use, the straws will not stay in the bottles. Not just one, all four. Horrible. These should be taken off the market immediately.

    By cecic21

I bought two three packs at Costco since it was such a great deal. We now have had three cups lose suction and won't work any more.

    By kelly

I bought my kids these bottles for Christmas because they love to use my Contigo bottle. I thought they would be exactly the same, just smaller. Nope. The straw will not stay in the valve and my kids are too little to fix it on their own. I put the straw back in and it falls out 2 minutes later. Waste of money until they fix the bottles!

    By Erin B.

I had the same issue as many. Bought a 3 pack at Costco & w/in a month or 2 all 3 would only suck in air. If I could replace the part or really if Contigo would replace it I would be happy w/ it. It was a great water bottle when it worked.

    By Jamie

I've bought several Contigo brand bottles for my son and only the first one has worked! This is the latest one I tried. The straw doesn't stay in the lid! My son couldn't use it at all. I will be sending it back. I love these bottles, especially for children, however, I want them to work!

    By Homer

I lost count of how many of these we have had replaced. I told Contigo they have either an engineering flaw or manufacturing quality issue but they just send me another one. It works for a month or so then fails again. I am done with these, I will not purchase another one, ever.

I would give this zero stars if that was an option.

    By Disappointed

I bought a three pack at Costco and two of them failed within a couple weeks. The third lasted about 2 months. When my children try to drink from them they just get air, with the straw, without the straw, held upright, held upside-down, all they get is air. I'm very disappointed with the product and they told me to return it to the store. I threw out the packaging and my receipt would not be easy to find so I guess I'm out the money. Not a happy customer.

    By Chisce

I have the adult version of this bottle, and love it, so when I saw the kids' version at Target and Costco I bought a bunch of them. We love the bottles, except for the same two problems everyone else seems to be having:
    1) One of the bottles started sucking in only air after about 1 month.
    2) The straws fall out/shake out ALL THE TIME.
The suggestion by "camomoftwins" is a good one, to just ditch the straw, but some of my kids are a bit older and like the straw option.
I think the design for this particular bottle needs to be tweaked a bit.

    By Thirsty

Nice design, bought a three pack from Costco. However, one after one stopped working within 3month from purchase. My daughters can't gets anything out of the bottle. I checked spout that fold in & out connected by rubber tube was wear out poor quality. It seems more people had similar situation. This was used everyday. I'll contact customer service for replacement since has life time warranty. Will I buy Kids brand in future??

    By lola

We have tried and tried to figure this bottle out but all we are getting is air through the spout.

    By Boopadet

I purchased this water bottle for my kindergartner. He's used it a little over 1 month. It still looks new but already the straw inside the lid has a tear, rendering the bottle totally un-usable. (There's no suction.) I have only ever gently hand-washed this bottle. Seems a waste of money for a faulty product.

    By JLynn

I bought these in a 3-pack from Costco in August. We have the Contigo coffee mugs and were very happy with them so I was thrilled to finally find spill-proof cups for my boys' lunchboxes. With a few weeks the black rubber gasket came off of one of the cups. We cannot get it back on and it renders the cup unusable. Last week the same thing happened to another of the cups. My poor son opened up his lunchpack and out dumped an entire containers worth of water! So less than three months later and we now only have one cup left although I will never use it as I don't trust it at all. They have never been treated roughly and have only been washed by hand or in the top rack of the dishwasher. I am very disappointed.

    By Contigo Fan

Love these water bottles. They are easy to clean, great colors and love the fact the \nipple\" is covered to keep it clean. Another bonus - the liquid will not come out of the \""nipple\"" when not in use. "

    By NYC Father

Will not spill if spout is closed. My one-year-old daughter is able to open the spout by herself. The button that opens the spout is a good interactive activity (cause and effect). There is also a removable valve to prevent spills when the spout is open. Everything comes apart for easy cleaning. It can even turn into an inverted sports bottle if you take the inner straw out. I wash all parts in the dishwasher without any problems.

CONS: Straw often comes loose inside the bottle which frustrates my one-year-old as she gets only air (My two-year-old gets around this problem by inverting the bottle). My two-year-old has bitten through two spouts (nipples) already and I have to get them replaced. Spouts can only
be replaced by purchasing a whole lid which is $5 before shipping and tax. Bottles will break if dropped from a high chair if FULL of fluid.

    By granny

Grandkids & I really like these. Great colors. Grandkids really like pop-up spout. My only complaint is the straw, it pops out of position & I have to take lid off to put back. Just normal use. They don't throw them etc.

    By Mom2Trinity

I got one of these for myself and my daughter took over. I was so happy to find a kids version in Target! She loves it and we're both very happy!! I highly recommend it!!

    By GadgetMom

I bought two of these for my 19 moth old. She and I both love that she can operate them by herself (opening and closing the spout). I love that they hold more water than other spill proof brands (my daughter loves her water!) and that the spout is pretty well protected from dirt. However, the straw falls out too easily. I've tried pushing the straw in harder/further, but it still falls out, and my daughter gets irritated. I have this problem with both bottles. Also, occasionally the bottles have leaked through the air inlet on the lid. I've pulled the lid off to see if the valve is misaligned or something, but all looks well. Other brands truly are spill proof, but they are not as easy for a toddler to operate. I'm going to call Contigo to see if there are any suggested solutions.

    By Disappointed Mommy of Three

We bought 6 of these water bottles in August, right before school started for my kiddos to use. We live in Arizona, so the kids need their water when they're outside. These came highly recommended and initially worked great. However, within the first couple of months, we were having a problem with a couple of them. When my children would try and drink, you would hear this loud sucking sound, but very little water would come out. I took it apart, found no problems, so I looked under the nipple where it connects to the straw, and lo and behold, on the two that weren't working, there were large holes, which would explain the loud sucking noise. I contacted Contigo, but received no response, which was disappointing. Recently, a third one had the same problem. I can only figure that the hole is from the nipple folding up and down to open and close. So now we're down to half the bottles we initially purchased, when I expected them to last much, much longer than six months for the price. We were very disappointed.

We love contigo and have used the trekker bottles for our oldest for years and well as others for my husband and I over the years. The Trekkers have lasted fairly long (black ring deal issues every 1.5 years or so and we have to throw them out & rebuy). However, this is the third Stryker we have gone through for our youngest and the straw is always coming out/undone while he tries to drink & he ends up sucking air. I originally called customer service and was told to return it to amazon where we buy out bottles. The next one came, same problem. I called customer service and was told they received no other complaints and I was possibly not using the bottle correctly (I am not an idiot, I can see the straw came out). I called again, and was told they could do nothing since I bought it from amazon (too late to do anything there). We bought another one on our own, after 6 months of fixing the straw 3 or 4 times a day becsuse we hoped they fixed it by now. Nope. The very first ones we had (lighter blue, red/blue/older style) did not have this problem. I really have never had a problem with other companie's customer service before being rude, before and this is the first negative review I have ever had to leave. It is a shame because they have made excellent products in the past.

    By fishrman

We had this product a few days and wondered why the straw kept popping out. There was a defect in the product. It works, but when you move it around, the straw falls out. The MAIN REASON I am giving this one star is the customer service, or lack there of. I have written FOUR emails (online forms and emails) and have received ZERO response in almost 2 weeks! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Products are good, but they forgot to train or even hire people for customer service. It's quite pathetic. I am just going to return this item and buy it from AMAZON. Just read reviews here, but DO NO BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Go to Amazon. Go to Target. Just don't BUY from CONTIGO.COM! You will regret it, I PROMISE YOU! I wouldn't be surprised if they take off my review later. I'm so upset at this company.

I bought an orange autospout Addison Kids Water Bottle from drugstore on Jan 2013, the bottle is easy to use and in good condition till now. however, I bought a lot of this kind bottles this year, and then found product decline in quality, fail rate is near to 10% in one mouth. All the problems have appeared in the nipple where it connects to the straw, a hole appeared after using one or two months. It seems the new 4 colours has the problem, please pay your attention on this issue. I hope I can always use contigo cup. Thanks

    By camomoftwins

We have 4 of these bottles and generally like them for the size and they are truly leakproof. The problem is the straw which dislodges from the connection with minimal bumping of the bottle. We now just don't use the straw and my kids just tip the bottle up to drink. Works fine.
The bottles are a bit wider than usual cup holder size, so beware.
I would love a fitted neoprene sleeve for the bottle.

    By camomoftwins

It's getting super warm and I want to add ice to the kids' waters. Built NY sells a sleeve that fits perfectly! It's called Bottle Buddy and it's listed under the baby section.

    By Kim

My girls love these water bottles! I love that they're one touch pop-up straws and even if they have dirty hands, they don't have to touch the part their mouth touches. And when it's closed, the mouthpiece is protected from germs. I just wish this size came in stainless for our hot summers. I can't keep their water cold enough when outside. It's a great winter cup for us though!

    By tired dad

I got 3 bottles for my son to use in school, yeah the straw dislodge once a while. You have to put it in, in steps no just jam everything together. My only problem is the mouth piece cover popping out. It seems to be more solid on the adult version. Overall not much to complaint, my son loves them.

    By Ginna

I bought this for my three year old. I love that it has a valve so it won't spill. I only have one issues and that is the straw comes apart easily forcing me to open the bottle and reattach it.. I can deal with it and would recommend..

    By nanamiro

We loved these bottles over the last year until two of them stopped working. On one, the little gasket tore. On the other, I can't even figure out why it doesn't work. You just suck air when trying to drink out of it. I'm guessing there's a hole somewhere, but can't find it. It looks like people have had similar problems, so I won't be purchasing this style again.

    By LK

I have four kids, and we all drink a lot of water. These are durable, spill proof, long lasting, and easy to wash. We still have a couple of bottle we purchased when they were first out and we still use them. I have tried all kinds of bottles, from playtex to nalgene, and these have surpassed them all. We also use the larger 20 and 32 ounce bottles for ourselves as adults, or when our kids are playing baseball and football. You will not regret your purchase.

    By Lulu

Nice bottles... bought a three pack from Costco. However, one already has stopped working. My son sucks and hardly gets anything out of the bottle. I inspected the bottle and did not find any holes or such so no clue why it does not work. Apparently, people have had similar situations. This was used everyday and I am only assuming that these bottles last so long as they were sold in a three pack. Also, the design of the spout being permanently on with it being constantly folded over each time it is closed can wear on the silicone. Will not purchase again.

    By Jansea

This is my daughter's favorite water bottle. Easy to use for ages 2+. Unfortunately the silicone spout breaks down with frequent use, causing the user to suck up air; no liquid. We had bought 2 of these bottles directly from Contigo and both broke down within weeks of each other. Disappointed.

    By momof2boys

I have had a number of these bottles. about 3 had stopped working, so i tossed one... then came across the lifetime guarantee. I emailed, explained my situation and sent photos. Contigo quicly sent me 2 brand new bottles! Unfortunately, they bottles were pink (they had explained that the replacements would come in whatever colors were available.. which i was totally fine with.... but didn't expect bright pink for my 2 boys!). I was very appreciative for the quick resolution to my problem, so felt bad calling back about the girly color... but they are sending me out 2 more bottles, and allowing me to keep the pink ones to give away so that I don't have to pay for return shipping. This process could not have been more hassle-free! One of the greatest customer service experiences I've had!! Both email and phone correspondences were very pleasant. I will continue to purchase their products knowing that they stand behind them!

    By Silly mom

In theory this is a great product. We have had my sons for 6 months. The problems? The straw in the bottle constantly comes disconnected from the top. So when he said \it's broken\" again I thought it was the same deal. It wasn't. I took it all apart and looked under the spot to where the smaller straw comes out of the mouth piece. It is the area where it bends when it seals. There is a huge hole here and no way of fixing. It is also very difficult to get completely clean in this same area. i thought i was keeping it clean but when I inspected closer there was black grunge down in that small bendy straw! gross! Very disappointed and won't be buying any contigo products after this."""

    By HomeMom

We bought our bottles at Costco. In just a few weeks, one of the bottles had the problem in the valve (I'm assuming it's a hole - like other reviews, you suck and no water comes out). The other bottle very early on had it's straw keep falling out. In this version (different from the other), there is a little plastic ring where the straw connects. The ring on this bottle was partially brokenm explaining why the straw woudln't stay on. Given that we only use the bottle for water, and that the problem started within a few weeks of owning the bottle, I don't think it was caused by misused. It's disappointing, since we had been really happy with the size and the idea of a bottle that keeps the mouth-piece clean.

    By rh0719

I loved this water bottle the first day because I thought it was designed nicely. However, by the 2nd day and thereafter, my son said the straw keeps coming out. So, we will be returning this back to Target to find a better one.

    By By mom

At first I thought these r my dream comes true but soon the worse part came,I bought three bottles from the Costco , they were good spill proof ,nice colors, but too soon they are not working ,I don't know how to fix them, when you suck there you are not going to get any water , hardly a drop maybe, please don't buy these unless if you want put your money in the trash.
