Unhappy with it

Posted on 2/4/2015 by Charlie

I love these cups, my son had 4 of the swish style and recently they broke and we replaced them with one trekker and one scout steel bottle, very sad to say I am unhappy with the replacements we purchased, both cups have leaked horribly from the first time we used them, and the buttons on both of them are very loose :(

Unfortunately at this time I would not recommend this product due to this.
Wait for the clean lid version

Initially I loved this bottle. It's easy to use even for a 5 year old and doesn't leak. Perfect size for kids and the backpack. However, don't use it for anything other than water. The lid is next to impossible to clean well. And after a while the inner plastic top ring (the light blue part) also collects god only knows what underneath it and is not easily removed. Sadly I don't see a kid sized version (10 or 12 oz) with the new easy clean lid.
Hard to clean, develops a 'funk' smell

Posted on 10/30/2014 by AJ

We have many contigo adult coffee cups that are really ingenious in their design to make them easy to clean. This is not the case with this one. None of the pieces flip up to clean. After a day at school the milk itself is fine but the cup smells gross. If I pour it in another cup it's salvageable and fine. I looked closely and there's just gunk around the top. Nasty.
Not happy

I bought this cup for my daughter to have specifically for a road trip thinking it would be great. I was so disappointed! It leaks more than any other cup I have for her. My husband and I are HUGE fans of their other cups for coffee and swear by them for being leakproof. This cup however, is anything but. I would not suggest it. Sorry!
dissatisfied with lifetime guarantee

I bought this cup for my son to go to school and he loves it. It does a good job keeping his milk cold. Unfortunately the red seal on 2 of the cups came out about a month and a half after purchase. I spoke with a representative about replacing the lids and they said they would send me two new cups but unfortunately they no longer made the cup I had. Weill the picture above is the exact cup. So while they did replace my cups they did so with the cheaper un-insulated cups.
THE BEST AROUND

When I saw the previous low review I had to set the record straight. I have a collection of these bottles and use them pretty much daily for school lunches, outings, after school activities, sports etc. The reason I keep coming back to Contigo is that they don't leak, and my kids can use the autoseal lid easily. One of my kids has a developmental delay relating to fine motor skills and strength in her hands and would have difficulty opening a competitor's screw-cap bottle. Plus, these are insulated. Great for cold water in summer, and if you want to pack a perishable drink like milk or juice, a thermal bottle is a must. The only downside is that they don't last forever. If you drop them on a hard surface they are prone to cracking the ring that the lid screws into, and then they are caput. However, I feel that we get our money out of them - and the price is more reasonable than other brands.
Great little sibling to the fantastic Westloop

Posted on 10/28/2014 by Contigo Dad

A couple of things to be aware of: 1) These are fatter than the Trekker water bottles and other earlier kids Autoseal cups and do not fit in our child car seat cup holders. 2) unlike the Westloop, as of yet, there are no replacement lids so though you spend almost as much as for a Westloop (investment for hot/cold ability) when the plastic or seal fails your choice is buy a whole new bottle or not. One of ours did same as the customer who gave review with one star but ours went for a few months of heavy kid-use before it started leaking from the drinking/vent holes. We also experienced the cracked plastic ring on the other from an well aimed drop, but as with the other review, our is still functional. For the leaking lid, I examined the mechanism and everything seems fine and I couldn't see any visible problem with what I could see of the seal surfaces. Though you can't see and thus can't examine the vent hole seal at all. On the plus side the lids are the same size as the other kids Autoseal cups, so we use one of the Trekker lids to allow us to keep using the thermal stainless steel bottle. All in all, We like 'em and will likely order again (when the colors that my kids like are back in stock. :) )
less versatile

Posted on 10/28/2014 by jasamy

I've had these for a while now. They hold up to daily use and dozens of dishwasher runs. The ONLY thing I don't like about them is that unlike other contigo mugs, they cannot be used for hot liquids. Great for lunches, but would be nice to take along for hikes, games, with hot cocoa, etc. It requires buying extra coffee mugs that then won't fit in lunch boxes and take up space.
